Welcome to Ross Elementary Library! My name is Mrs. Fairbank. I am the Library Media Specialist. We are very pleased to have a beautiful new library with over 5,000 new books. In addition to checking out books, the students also come to the library for lessons. The students are learning about wonderful authors and illustrators, learning about the parts of a book, exploring different genres in the library and much more. It is my personal desire to help all students find a love of reading!
With the support of our business partners, such as Winter Livestock and Wendys, we are able fund our reading incentive program. This program is designed to help motivate students to read. The students are given opportunities to earn prizes for meeting their individual reading goals.
Ross Elementary also participates in the KU Reading Program where students keep a reading log throughout the year. At the end of the year, students can earn certificates and prizes for reading both fiction and nonfiction books.
I am also very pleased to announce that the students from Ross Elementary won the Summer Reading Program trophy from the Dodge City Public Library for reading the most books over the Summer break. Congratulations Ross Rhinos!!!!!!
The third and fourth grade students recently completed Biography Bottles to represent famous people after learning about the biographies in the library. Pictures of their projects can be seen below.
Come check out the new theme for the story room at Ross Elementary....The Royal Reading Room!!!! The room is decorated as a fairytale castle complete with a castle, throne chair, and even a flying dragon!!! Stop "dragon" your feet and come to the library for some great books!!!!!!
